Our Philosophy

Our school began during COVID — out of necessity, and then out of conviction. What started as a response to circumstance became something we couldn't give back: the freedom to educate our children the way we believe they were made to learn. In 2026 we formally constituted that journey as Hana Bloom Academy.

We draw from the classical tradition — the great books, Socratic dialogue, mastery of language and logic — while staying grounded in the faith and values that shape our family. Every subject is taught with the belief that education is ultimately formation, not just information.

As a Texas private school, we have the freedom to build an education that is fully intentional, deeply personal, and anchored in what matters most.

Hana Bloom Academy is a K–12 educational institution operating under the legal framework of Texas private school law. Our administrative structure, curriculum documentation, and student records meet the standards of a formally constituted private school.

Legal Status

Hana Bloom Academy operates as a private school under Texas law. The Texas Supreme Court ruling in Leeper v. Arlington ISD, 893 S.W.2d 432 (Tex. 1994), legally classifies home-based instruction meeting bona fide curriculum standards as private school education. Texas private schools are not required to register with or be accredited by the Texas Education Agency. The Academy maintains formal curriculum documentation, instructional records, transcripts, and assessment records consistent with private school operations.

Administration

Ruby Chang Administrator & Curriculum Director Leads curriculum design, instructional quality, faith integration, and student assessment across all grade levels.

DC Chang Co-Administrator Oversees institutional operations, technology infrastructure, academic records, and external compliance. Twenty-five years of executive experience in audit, risk management, and cybersecurity governance.

Academic Calendar

Year-round operation organized in four quarters. 180 instructional days per year with quarterly portfolio reviews and annual standardized benchmarking.

Are you accredited?

Hana Bloom Academy operates as a private school under Texas law. Per the Texas Supreme Court's ruling in Leeper v. Arlington ISD (1994), Texas private schools — including those operating in a home setting — are legally recognized and are not required to register with or be accredited by the Texas Education Agency. We maintain formal curriculum, transcripts, and records consistent with private school standards.

Do you issue transcripts?

Yes. Hana Bloom Academy issues formal transcripts to graduating students documenting completed coursework, demonstrated competencies, capstone projects, and standardized assessment results.

What grade levels do you serve?

Kindergarten through twelfth grade, following a classical liberal arts curriculum with integrated faith, STEM, and applied entrepreneurship pillars.

Do you accept students from outside the family?

No. Hana Bloom Academy is a closed private school and is not enrolling external students at this time.
